77.1 - Invited Paper: Toward Commercialization of Vertical, Organic, Light-Emitting Transistors for Active-Matrix Displays (3:10 PM - 3:30 PM)
-
Maxime Lemaitre, Svetlana Vasilyeva, Xiao Chen, Bo Liu
Mattrix Technologies Gainesville FL US
-
VOLETs combine three of the four essential components of an AMOLED pixel — the drive transistor, the storage capacitor, and the OLED stack — into a single, highly stable, self-emissive structure. VOLETs can be manufactured on a-Si TFT backplanes to enable low-cost AMOLED displays with improved brightness and lifetime characteristics.
77.2 - Research on Suppressing the Electrical Crosstalk of Tandem OLED Sub-Pixels (3:30 PM - 3:50 PM)
-
Danyang Jiang, Bo Jiang, Mengzhen Li, Jia Liu, Teng Cui, Liwei Ding, Cuili Gai
Yungu (Gu'an) Technology Co., Ltd. Guan China
-
In a tandem OLED device, the common layer, including the charge-generation layer, will not only transport charge carriers vertically, but also transport the charge horizontally to adjacent sub-pixels, resulting in electrical crosstalk. The authors provide theoretical simulation and solutions to suppress the electrical crosstalk and optimize uniformity of the tandem OLED display.
77.3 - Power-Efficient and High-Color-Gamut RGBY AMOLED Displays (3:50 PM - 4:10 PM)
-
Woo-Young So, Mike Hack, Eric Margulies, Michael Weaver, Julie Brown
Universal Display Corporation Ewing NJ US
-
The authors present a novel four-color sub-pixel AMOLED display that uses only three OLED depositions while enabling very high color gamut with greatly reduced power consumption. Achieving 90% of Rec. 2020 color standard, power consumption is reduced by 39% compared to that of a conventional RGB side-by-side pixel architecture.
77.4 - Highly Efficient Side-by-Side Three-Stack Tandem Flexible OLED Displays with Yb-Doped n-CGLs (4:10 PM - 4:30 PM)
-
Yuto Tsukamoto, Masakazu Shibasaki, Shota Nomiyama, Tokiyoshi Umeda, Shinichi Kawato
Sharp Display Technology Corporation Nara Japan
-
The researchers have succeeded in developing highly efficient side-by-side three-stack tandem flexible OLED displays with Yb-doped n-CGLs, whose current efficiencies are up to 2.2 times as high as those of single OLED ones. These three-stack tandem OLED displays show 1,800 nits in full white with a polarizer.
